Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The Department of Chemistry at Boston College is committed to creating and supporting an inclusive and diverse community of students, faculty, and staff within our department. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee was created to provide a forum for conversations, education and mentoring to further enrich our community. We welcome and encourage people of all backgrounds to join our department and promote our mission of diversity, inclusivity and equity within Boston College and the greater scientific community.

Our main objectives are to:

  • Facilitate conversations, seminars, journal clubs and social events to foster diversity and inclusion

  • Educate our community on topics related to diversity and inclusion

  • Provide mentoring and research opportunities to undergraduate/graduate/postdoctoral researchers from underrepresented minority communities

  • Offer guidance and information related to reporting and mitigating bias-related incidents within the community
